Words are just words, nothing else

Generally, the things people say have little — to — no [direct] bearing on how they feel or what they’ll do. This took me way too long to realise, understand and accept. And while I sometimes consider this conclusion a sad fact, it has definitely made navigating human beings, especially at work, a lot easier.
