It only takes a little difference to be very different

Genetically, all human beings are ~99.5% identical. All our variation, comes from less than 1% of what makes us up. Recently, it has become more apparent to me this ratio is “mirrored in real life”. We mostly do the same things — eat, drink, seek love — and want the same things — dignity, companionship, a sense of purpose — while avoiding the same fears — loneliness, failure, mortality.

I think we tend to magnify differences in ways that are very disadvantageous. I think figuring out ways to spread the things that we all want is the better way to go.
